Debt
Consolidation
Interest related debt is a growing concern
for many of American consumers.
After purchasing their first home, many consumers attempting to purchase
all household necessities in one go find themselves reliant on credit.
With too much on your credit cards, interest soon piles up. And an amount
that a person may have thought easy to pay back, soon becomes a lifelong
struggle to stay ahead of.
It is because of this growing tendency that more and
more American consumers are seeking the help known as debt consolidation.
And while debt consolidation can be a big help to some, it can be a big
hassle to others. We at Debt Consolidation Counselors want to help you
stay informed when making a big decision such as this, and we want to
earn your trust so that you will decide on us!
Shop around to find a company that you feel
comfortable with.
When making decisions in a field that is pretty much alien to you, it
is easy to be pressured into a situation that you later realize that you
don’t want any part in. That is the idea of selling, and it was
what most advertising relies on to hook you in. Most of the debt consolidation
experts out there were former debt collection agents! And if you have
ever been harassed by debt collection agencies or the collection departments
of your creditors, you know how pushy they can be.
Many debt consolidation agents forget what side they are on. They are
used to working for the creditor and taking advantage of debt laden consumers.
And from what we have learned from people who have turned to us, is that
sometimes, debt consolidation agents can take advantage of you to enlist
their services, whether or not they are right for you!
At Debt Consolidation Counselors, we understand the difficulty and vulnerability
of your situation. We ensure that all our agents take a humane approach
when dealing with our customers. We offer a free
consultation so that you do not spend money only to hear that we cannot
help your situation. And once we have determined that we CAN help, we
will work with you to make sure you get the most beneficial service based
on your particular situation.

If you would still prefer to shop around, here is
some advice that we can offer.
Location is important
From State to State, licensing
requirements vary. For example, the states of California and Connecticut
have the most rigorous licensing requirements in the country, and there
is less chance that debt consolidation companies in those States will
scam you. If you can, work with a debt consolidation company located in
one of these two states. On the other side, the states of Florida and
Maryland have the most lenient licensing requirements and a large percentage
of debt consolidation scams are reported from companies based in those
states. We advise that you avoid working with any company based in these
states at all costs. Further, if you live in either New York or Michigan,
State law requires that you deal with a company based in your home state.
We hope that this information is helpful in choosing a debt consolidation
company that is right for you.
